ADVENTURE 2022
Traveling is my passion and I love traveling alone. I relish the freedom, the independence, and above all, the silence. All those inner voices of criticism, judgment, duty and fear disappear. In their place, calm, quiet, curiosity, wonder and inspiration appear.
I was on the road for 16 weeks in 2022. I repeatedly experienced the feeling of being connected to all-that-is. Sleeping under the stars at the International Dark Sky parks, I did not feel small and insignificant. Standing at the base of monumental red rocks, I did not feel overwhelmed by their vastness. Instead I found myself rejoicing. "I get to participate in all this! I am a part of all this. I am all this." We are what we see when we look out past all horizons. We are the stars!
On my travels, I was always the oldest, most grey-haired, smiliest, possibly silliest, and only solo traveler everywhere I found myself. I was also the only woman. I was never afraid. People treated me with such kindness, making sure I got my picture taken, had in a seat with a good view, could manage my suitcase, did not fall off the boulders. They attended to anything I might possibly have needed. They were shocked and amazed that a woman my age (or any age) would choose to travel alone and really like it. I have said it before, I will say it again, never underestimate the currency of a smile.
I wanted to share some of these fantastic, spectacular, funny, beautiful, magical places and experiences, so I have created a slideshow for you. It was a struggle to cull 120 photos from over 6,000, but I finally managed to get it down to about 3 minutes. (You can adjust the settings and speed by hovering over the lower left corner once the show begins.) Click here if you would like to see my Adventure 2022
And I just want to say, “Get out there!” It doesn't have to be 10,000 miles. It can be a park, your backyard, your indoor plants, or a view through your window. Touch the natural world and see how the experience changes you.
